208 FC Age Groups

Age Groups

Project 208 FC offers soccer training for ages 5 to 18. While we blend the age groups for mentorship opportunities, Draft League, and other events, practices are structured by age groups. Please note that the age groups will shift going into the Fall 2026 season, due to changes by the governing body of US Youth Soccer.

Pre Comp

Our Pre-Comp team is designed for players around 7 years old who are emotionally and physically ready and eager to trial league and/or tournament play with our U9 team. Pre-Comp will practice with the U9’s and occasionally players may be invited to join the roster for a league game or a tournament. While an invite to competitive play is not guaranteed, typically we include about 2-3 pre-comp players per U9 game. If your player is interested in joining pre-comp, please reach out to info@project208fc.org with the subject “Pre-Comp Inquiry.” Pre-Comp is NOT required for players who eventually hope to play U9.

For Spring ‘26: Players born in 2018

For Fall ‘26 through Spring ‘27: Players born between Aug 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019

U9-High School

Starting with U9, our teams begin participating in league play and tournaments outside of the Wood River Valley during fall and spring seasons, in addition to our local Draft League. Schedules will vary by age group based on roster size and preferences communicated with coaches via pre-season outreach.

U9 and U10: Teams play 7v7

U11 and U12: Teams play 9v9

U13 through U18: Teams play 11v11

Lil Hot Shots

The Lil' Hot Shots Soccer Academy program introduces eager girls (ages 4-7) to the FUN-damentals of learning, playing, and succeeding at soccer, under the guidance of our top-notch coaching staff and mentors from our older Project 208 teams. If your kiddo has energy to burn, a knack for kicking things, and maybe even a future in professional soccer, the Lil’ Hot Shots is the program for her!

Spring 2026 will continue with age divisions by calendar year of birth date. Please note the age divisions will be different going forward, beginning with Fall 2026.

U9 - 2017 birth year*
U10 - 2016 birth year
U11 - 2015 birth year
U12 - 2014 birth year
U13 - 2013 birth year
U14 - 2012 birth year
U15 - 2011 birth year
U16 - 2010 birth year
U17 - 2009 birth year
U18 - 2008 birth year

* In some cases U9 may include some 2018 Pre-Comp Players

Fall “26 & Spring ‘27

Starting in Fall 2026, US Youth Soccer will be changing the age divisions to better align players with their school-grade peers (Project 208 will follow this model).

U9: born between Aug 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018*
U10: born between Aug 1, 2016 and July 31, 2017
U11: born between Aug 1, 2015 and July 31, 2016
U12: born between Aug 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015
U13: born between Aug 1, 2013 and July 31, 2014
U14: born between Aug 1, 2012 and July 31, 2013
U15: born between Aug 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012
U16: born between Aug 1, 2010 and July 31, 2011
U17: born between Aug 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010
U18: born between Aug 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009

* May include some younger 2018’s and some older 2019 Pre-Comp Players
